Syncing computer clock
The last weeks I have tried some digi mode QSOs and wanted to try out WSPR. Although I managed to set up the WSPR software I was not able to sync computer time. I tried both Dimension 4 and Internet Time installed with Win 7 but all I receive is a timeout failure. I have played around with firewall and anti virus settings but the problem still persists. Any suggestions?

What about using the HTTP option of D4 and point it to http://www.time.gov/ or http://www.nist.gov/pml/div688/grp40/its.cfm ?

Hello hg! Thanks for your reply! I forgot to mention that I've already tried using the http protocol to several different URLs and IPs but it didn't solve my problem. Thanks anyway!

I have been using abouttime very succesful. It is old and simple but works also in win7.

There is only one software I would ever use, I have been using it for years, and it is the Windows port of the official NTP (Network Time Protocol) software. You can't get better than that, and you can get it here: http://www.meinberg.de/english/sw/ntp.htm .
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, it does seem as if your problem is a connectivity issue rather than anything to do with the software.
Hi Mad, I had the same problems here on Win7. Windows clock gives a timeout. So tried Dimension 4, which worked fine with XP. But now I use server: tick.usno.navy.mil in Dimension 4 and it works fine now. 73 Paul
